XAUUSD Trading Strategy 2026 — Breakout, Pullback & Timing

Three repeatable gold setups, the sessions that make them work, and the exit rules that protect profit.

Gold rewards structure, not guesses. The same patterns repeat because the players are the same: Asian range, London breakout, New York continuation. This article lays out three setups you can plan in advance instead of chasing the candle.

Setup 1 — London Open Breakout

During the Asian session (07:00–14:00 WIB) gold often coils into a narrow range. At London open the first candle that closes outside that range with volume is the trigger:

ElementRule
RangeMark high/low of 07:00–14:00 WIB.
Trigger1H candle close beyond range + volume.
StopBack inside the range (false break).
Target1.5× the range height (measured move).

Setup 2 — Trend Pullback (EMA-50)

When XAUUSD is clearly above the 4H EMA-50, wait for a pullback to tag the EMA and bounce. Entry on the bullish rejection candle; stop below the swing low. This keeps you with the dominant force instead of fading it.

Why it works

Institutions accumulate on pullbacks. Trading the retest rides their flow rather than front-running a move you can't see.

Setup 3 — News-Spike Fade (Advanced)

US CPI/NFP often spike gold both ways in the first 5 minutes, then revert. Only for experienced traders: wait for the initial spike to exhaust (a 1M reversal candle), then trade the reversion with a tight stop. Never hold through the release.

Exit Discipline

Trail, don't freeze Move stop to break-even after 1R, then trail under structure. A gold trend can run for days — let winners run.

Kill losers fast If price returns inside the breakout range, the thesis is wrong. Exit immediately.
